This Privacy Policy explains how Ireland Tax Aid ("we", "us", "our"), a Revenue-registered Irish tax agent (TAIN: 81606T, CRO: 740212, Galway, Ireland), collects, uses, and protects your personal information when you use irelandtaxaid.com or engage our tax refund services.

Because we act as your authorised agent in dealing with Revenue on your behalf, we necessarily collect sensitive personal information, including your PPS Number. Please read this policy carefully, alongside our Terms and Conditions.

What Information We Collect

To assess and submit your tax refund claim, we collect:

  • Identity and contact details: name, address, phone number, email address.
  • PPS Number: required to act as your agent with Revenue and to identify your tax record.
  • Employment and income information: employer details, income, and taxes paid, as needed to assess your refund.
  • Bank account details: to receive and forward any refund due to you, or for Revenue to pay you directly where applicable.
  • Supporting documentation: depending on the credit or relief claimed, this may include rental agreements, medical or dental receipts, tuition fee receipts, or utility bills.
  • Usage data: standard website analytics (device, browser, IP address) collected via cookies, as described below.

Why We Collect It and Our Legal Basis

  • To perform our contract with you: assessing your eligibility, preparing and submitting your claim to Revenue, and processing any resulting refund and our fee.
  • To comply with legal obligations: Revenue Commissioners' requirements for tax agents, and record-keeping obligations under Irish tax law.
  • Legitimate interests: maintaining the security of our systems, responding to your enquiries, and improving our Services.
  • Consent: where we send you marketing communications about tax credits or reliefs you may be entitled to, you may opt out of these at any time.

Who We Share Your Information With

  • The Revenue Commissioners – as required to act as your authorised tax agent and submit your claim.
  • Shopify – our website and e-commerce platform provider, which processes data on our behalf to operate this Site. See Shopify's Privacy Policy.
  • Payment and banking partners – where needed to transfer a refund to you.
  • IT and email service providers – who support our day-to-day operations.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for advertising purposes.

How Long We Keep Your Information

In line with our Terms and Conditions and Revenue's own record-keeping requirements, we retain documentation relating to your claim for 6 years from the end of the tax year to which the claim relates. Where we no longer need information for this purpose or to comply with a legal obligation, we securely delete it.
